Deck the Halls & Hit the Road: Top Festive Truck Stops in the US

Let’s face it: without truckers, there would be no holiday gifts or food this year or any year. The holidays are the busiest time of year as billions of packages need to be delivered by truck. According to the American Trucking Association (ATA), trucks move roughly 72.6% of the nation’s freight by weight.

You’re an essential part of the holiday season (and any season), and although the trucking life may have you on the road during the holidays, it doesn’t have to be a lonely time of year. Many truck stops welcome truck drivers with open arms, a delicious meal and a festive time.

Our list of festive truck stops

Major truck stops like Pilot/Flying J’s, Love’s, and TA/Petro serve seasonal holiday dinners. And if your CRST route takes you through Iowa, stop at Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott—the world’s largest truck stop. The Iowa 80 Truck Stop will be open all day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Truckers can stop into the Iowa 80 Kitchen for a mouthwatering meal with holiday favorites.

Another trucker favorite is the Love’s Travel Stops, open during the holidays and offering holiday fare for drivers. Also, check out Johnson’s Corner in Johnstown, Colorado, a historic truck stop with a homey feel and huge cinnamon buns in four tasty flavors.
