Job Summary: The Supervisor-Claims is responsible for administering overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) claims from receipt to settlement and overseeing efforts of assigned Claims Examiners and Specialists.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Archive closed claims.
  • Assess culpability, determine legal liability, assess service provider accountability, issue settlements, and issue service provider chargebacks.
  • Assign inspection and repair firms.
  • Register return transportation for refused shipments.
  • Lead subrogation efforts on third-party claims.
  • Process accounting entries for cargo, general liability, and delay claims.
  • IBNR reserving management.
  • Issue daily claims recap.
  • Maintain quarterly chargeback table.
  • Maintain corporate and local databases supporting financial reporting, root-cause analysis, and customer business reviews.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis, best-practice identification, and dissemination of preventive measures.
  • Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives
  • Develop skills and provide supervision of Claims Examiners and Specialists.
  • Participate in annual sales and distribution center meeting.
  • Manage salvage disposition and unclaimed freight.
  • Other duties as assigned by department management in accordance with company needs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • 12+ months experience in Claims, HR, or Management field 
  • High school diploma or GED required and a degree in a related field preferred
  • Four Year Logistics or Business Degree preferred
  • Certification in relevant field: National Property Adjuster License
  • Time management skills needed
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle interruptions 
  • Verbal and written communication skills must be excellent
