Safety Supervisor

CRST the Transportation Solutions, Inc. is looking to add another talented Safety Supervisor to our growing organization in Tolleson, AZ.

Job Summary: CRST’s Dedicated Solutions division is focused on service excellence to retailers and producers who need consistent, dependable, high-quality delivery services. We provide customers the flexibility of a private fleet, without the expense. Dedicated Solutions is divided into east and west divisions. 
The Safety Supervisor will implement and develop training opportunities to enhance knowledge, develop skills and enrich the organization. Manage driver training programs, and safety reviews, and counsel drivers on DOT regulations and company policies.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct Classroom environment new hire driver orientation; company policy/procedures, DOT Regulations, Safety Modules, HOS, Maven, Qualcomm, SMITH system, Pre/Post Trip, Customer Service expectations. Review orientation PowerPoint presentation, prepare and obtain materials for driver qualification files.
  • Utilize TPI Software to review all DOT inspections, motor vehicle citations, and accident trends as received on Gardner drivers or equipment to identify trends and recommend prevention / corrective action measures. Use the information provided from TPI to coach and correct driver behavior.
  • Weekly communication with site customers to ensure Weekly Tailgate meetings and on-site training is being conducted. Retain training documents, and supply them to the compliance department in a timely manner for accurate record keeping.  Populate and distribute weekly supervisor scorecards to ensure compliance.
  • Equipment Inspection; Check 90-day BIT on tractor/trailers. Cleanliness, Inspect lights, tires, and hoses on all equipment. Walk the yard with Supervisor. Any issue with equipment needs to be “Red Tagged” and VRT needs to be notified.
  • Ensure drivers are complying with Site-Specific/OSHA Requirements when performing a site evaluation.
  • Regularly conduct driver evaluations, ride along, and completion of employee evaluation forms.
  • Log and track new driver site-specific training, utilizing the Driver Training Safety Program.
  • Continue to train and coach driver trainers; ensure the trainer is providing the necessary training to the trainee. Driving of tractor, safety standards, use of equipment, and Maven/Elogs. Completion of training documentation is required prior to the tractor being released to the trainee.
  • Ensure completion of Post-Accident Drug/Alcohol Testing and Random DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing for the dedicated region. Coordinate with the Compliance team to schedule appointments.
  • Administer disciplinary action to drivers, corrective actions, suspension, or terminations. Corrective actions will be produced by the Compliance Department. All corrective actions need to be returned within 5 business days.
  • Identify drivers' accident/injury trends, and place them on a return to work program.
  • Conduct Quarterly Safety Meetings. Ensure all drivers attend and complete quarterly safety meetings.
  • Follow up on Accidents/Incidents/Injuries reported by RMIS, and complete an investigation if needed. Partner with Claims Department to provide documentation. Involvement in Critical Accident Reviews with Operations and Safety Department.
  • Participation is coaching/training events that are produced by Lytx Camera.
  • 25% of travel is involved with the responsibilities of this position.


  • A high school diploma or GED required
  • 12-24 months of experience in a relevant field required
  • 1-2 years of experience in the transportation industry required
  • AA or BA in relevant field preferred
