Network Administrator

Over the next few years, CRST The Transportation Solution will be implementing significant enterprise wide system and software upgrades. In support of this project, and of future needs, we are expanding our personnel and adding new positions within our Information Technology team, located in Cedar Rapids, IA or Atlanta, GA. We are seeking new IT skills and resources in the areas of help desk technicians, project managers, business process analyst, application administration and software development. Please Note: This role is primarily a work from home, but final candidate must be within 90 minutes of the facility for any network outages that require onsite technical assistance. 

Role Summary:  

This position is responsible for technical support of following areas: routing, switching, network subnetting, network security, some IP telephony products and wireless technologies

Role Responsibilities:

  • Primary Tier 2 network support for service desk escalation
  • Daily operations support and maintenance of existing and new network infrastructure
  • Identify and drive recurring issues to resolution either through service desk tickets or monitoring technologies.
  • Follow/maintain policies and procedures for installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting network hardware and software
  • Document operational issues and solutions
  • Producing reports and KPI’s as established or requested
  • Ensure that actions taken fulfill the requirements of IT policies and procedures

Role Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required. Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is a plus; or equivalent experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong analytical skills are critical for identifying, troubleshooting and solving problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (especially technical writing)
  • Able to excel and contribute in a team environment
  • Understanding in OSI Network model with primary focus on the TCP/IP stack and the following network related services and protocols: TFTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, SYSLOG, MPLS, VoIP, OSPF, EIGRP, multicast, policy-based routing, port-channels, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, etc.
  • Experience with firewalls and VPN technologies
  • Experience with Cisco Voice products specifically Contact Center Express
  • Able to multi-task
  • Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is a plus
  • 2-4 years’ experience in technical or networking support role
