Manager – Key Accounts

Job Summary:

The Manager – Key Accounts is responsible for the management of a book of transportation business towards long term retention and revenue growth. The Manager – Key Accounts will leverage the entire CRST The Transportation Solution enterprise to not only grow existing business, but also to identify new opportunities, within this portfolio, and offer creative solutions that meet their customers needs. The Key Account Manager will have a broad understanding of the transportation marketplace, and will utilize that knowledge as a “value added” supplier for their customers. In order to accomplish their mission, as a value added supplier, the Manager – Key Accounts will lead a team of people who will help meet the daily needs of those customers in an effective way that brings value to their customer’s business and CRST The Transportation Solution as a whole. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fully accountable to grow, expand and elevate relationships within their customer base towards KPI’s that would address not only growth in revenue and volume, but also profitability. 
  • Fully accountable for P&L results in regards to their owned book of transportation business. This would include, but not be limited to, managing: Purchased transportation, contractor costs, equipment costs as well as labor and administrative costs. 
  • Negotiate rates and pricing with customers in a strategic way that supports not only the customer’s needs but also the goals of CRST The Transportation Solution enterprise. 
  • Manages conflict with not only external customers, but also 3rd party partners, and internal customers and suppliers. 
  • Conducts weekly/monthly performance reviews with customers and strives towards continuous improvement of the services their team provides. 
  • Actively collaborates with CRST Enterprise Sales to find and develop new opportunities for growth. Not just within their current book of business, but opportunities with new customers. 
  • Advocates for the needs of their customers within CRST The Transportation Solution while collaborating within CRST to produce positive outcomes for the customer and CRST. 
  • Collaborates with other departments and divisions within CRST The Transportation Solution to achieve the goals of CRST Capacity Solutions. 
  • Develops and implements action plans to meet the goals of CRST Capacity Solutions. This will involve securing the cooperation of the people involved in the achievement of these goals, whether inside or outside CRST. 
  • Organize and lead their team of direct reports to meet customer needs and KPI’s while providing revenue and profitability growth to CRST. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative to act in the best interest of CRST The Transportation Solution.  
  • Develops, maintains, and executes department policies that affect other areas 
  • Writes appraisals, hires, fires, and disciplines, with management approval. 
  • Provide operational support to CRST as needed on a daily basis. 
  • Carry out any other assignments as assigned by The Director of Customer Service.
