Three CRST Vietnam Veterans recently traveled back to Vietnam as part of the 2023 Mission Veteran Expedition – Director of Capacity Solutions John Frey, CRST Specialized Solutions Driver Johnnie Lee McGlothen, and CRST Senior Fleet Manager Dock Peppers.
Organized by Veterans in Trucking, Waypoint Vets and Fastport, Vietnam veterans within the transportation industry had an opportunity to return to the country. From November 4-12, participating veterans experienced the beauty of the land and culture.
Our very own John Frey, Johnnie Lee McGlothen, and Dock Peppers, started their journey, along with other veterans in transportation, in Ho Chi Minh City. Here they received insights on Vietnam’s progress relations with the US and were briefed by the former Embassy of Saigon now US Consulate personnel. After the team delved into the vibrant streets of Saigon for a guided food tour! From the bustling mopeds to the heartwarming hostility, our gentlemen immersed themselves in local cuisine and culture.
The gentleman had a profound experience exploring Saigon! From a morning at the Saigon Zoo to a thought-provoking visit to the War Remnants Museum. This museum, with vast exhibits, depicted the realities of the war. Even today, they are still searching and finding more war remnants. The following day, the team was lead through the Cu Chi Tunnels, a historical marvel showcasing guerilla warfare tactics.
Back in the states, John Frey, Johnnie Lee McGlothen, and Dock Peppers, U.S. military veterans at CRST, took a stop at Hollywood’s Sirius/XM Studios!
They shared the incredible experiences from their recent Mission Veteran Expedition to Vietnam, diving deep into a discussion about the trip and honoring fellow veterans.
